Nordic Bio Power receives approval, ready for production start in April in Höganäs

01 Apr 2026, 15:11
Nordic Bio Power has received confirmation from the municipality’s environmental department that the company’s planned operations in Höganäs are not considered a permit-required environmentally hazardous activity.

This decision means that the company can now take the next step and move from project to production, with a planned production start at the end of April 2026.

The facility is planned to produce up to 8,200 tonnes of biochar per year, based on residual biomass from the forestry and wood industries.

“This is a decisive step for Nordic Bio Power. We are now entering the operational phase in Höganäs and establishing our industrial platform,” says Helen Jegerstedt, CEO of Averra Group, the parent company of Nordic Bio Power.

We are ready for production start and are now working on the final preparations to ensure stable and efficient operations,” says Patrik Nordström, COO and Site Manager in Höganäs.

The investment marks the start of the company’s industrial production of biochar and renewable energy.
